And a video from the very first round:
The best things in life tend to come along when you are least expecting them...Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith, follow your heart, and do the crazy thing. This is the story of my first horse, a horse named Charlie.

Jumping!
Charlie was much better today, still high since today was the first real day of turnout since the storm, but he listened ok. There was a guy at the barn spraying the weeds, which Charlie didn't like too much, but we worked through it....and then we jumped for the first time (I keep hearing Roxie in my head "We is jomping!!...for those of you who don't follow her you should check her out)! Here are some pictures:

Aw, he looks great! Love how excited he is about it. Hopefully you've found a hidden talent. :)
ReplyDeleteSide note, is that stirrups length your normal length for jumping or more for flatting? They look a bit long but I'm wondering if you find that helpful with a rambunctious greenie?
I've been keeping them long for flatting and wasn't really anticipating jumping today but decided not to shorten them since he was acting up a bit earlier. I do prefer them being long if I don't know what he's gonna do but plan on shortening them up next time :)
DeleteInteresting! My greenie can be unpredictable but I never really thought of lengthening my stirrups... Maybe I'll drop them a hole next time.
DeleteWoohooooo! I think he likes it :)
ReplyDeleteI guess starting as a western rider I still like mine a little long. I never feel like mine are right, but that's a whole other story ;) He looks oober excited to jump, glad you guys are having some fun
ReplyDeleteHaha someone has sassy!! He is so blessed that he has you as his mom, you are super committed to him :) great job as always sticking with him!!
ReplyDeleteI also like my stirrups longer rather than shorter. it's not like you need to have super short lengths to jump an x-rail and I always like having the ability to put my leg around Lucy if she is feeling sassy.
ReplyDeleteYipee!! He looks like he's having fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's some really excellent jomping :-D He looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute jumper!
ReplyDeleteLove the effort over the jumps :) He looks so BIG in some of these photos.
