About Charlie

Charlie (aka "Wayfinder") was born in Kentucky on May 3, 2007 by Clear Course and out of Irish Ties. He is classified as an Irish Thoroughbred which basically means he has Irish lines, making him hardier and bigger than most pure "english" thoroughbreds. His mom's sire was actually the great-grandson of Bold Ruler, which makes Charlie the great-great-great-great-grandson of War Admiral (he actually appears back in Charlie's lineage quite a few times). In case you don't know, War Admiral was the big match race competitor to Sea Biscuit back in the late '30s, which is pretty cool.

From what I was told Charlie went through three months of training to get ready to race but really showed no promise; although he could cover a lot of ground he was too laid back and sweet. So he was sold in 2009 directly from the breeder to the woman I got him from and moved with her down to Texas. She started him in hunter/jumper training and soon thereafter moved up to Pennsylvania, but because of work and other commitments (including several other horses) she decided he'd be better off with someone who had more time for him....that's when I came along!

Here are a few pictures I was able to find of him online as a young tyke (probably between 2-2.5 years old). He still hasn't lost the baby face :)
